CLEVELAND’S FINEST HORS D’OEUVRE CONTEST
RAISES $50,000 TO BENEFIT OUR LADY OF THE WAYSIDE
(Cleveland, Ohio) -- A “Dream Team” of area chefs helped raise $50,000 for the sold-out 24th Anniversary of Cleveland’s Finest Hors D’Oeuvre Contest, presented by The Zito Insurance Agency, all to benefit Our Lady of the Wayside (www.thewayside.org).
A crowd estimated at 750 people were able to sample and vote for their favorite hors d’oeuvre from Cleveland’s Dream Team of chefs and restaurants including: The Berea Depot (Chef Scott Ita), Carrie Cerino’s (Chef James Bartko), The Clifton & Tree House Gallery (Chef Genevieve Larson), Corleone’s Ristorante & Bar (Chef Marlon Mayorga), Garden Grille and Lounge at the Hilton Inn (Chef Joseph Novak), Melt Bar & Grilled (Chef Matt Fish), Momocho (Chef Christopher Monjot), Progressive Field/Delaware North Companies (Chef Todd Brazel), Tartine Bistro (Chef Michael Grieve), Taste of Excellence Catering (Chef Adam Quick), The Woods Restaurant (Chef John Juratovic), Zack Bruell Events (Chef Al Ives).
First place Winner: Corleone’s Ristorante and Wine Bar’s Caribbean seasoned scallops, with cauliflower grits, jalapeno bacon and green apple tequila pearls.
Second Place Winner: The Hilton Garden Inn, Cleveland East featured Shrimp scampi, parmesan risotto topped off with a carrot and French bean.
Third Place Winner: The Berea Depot’s Barbecue pulled pork taco with a pepper and apple slaw.
The $80.00 admission included two floors of fine wine selections from Moletto Prosecco - Dolce Amore, Amicone, Sobon Estates Old Vine Zinfandel, beer samplings provided by Saucy Brew Works, bakery selections from Pastry Cupcake Cravings Gourmet Cupcakes (Pastry Chef Brenda Bals), Simply Elegant Catering (Pastry Chef Stacey Stoudemire) and a Silent Auction. Entertainment provided by singer-songwriters Nate Jones and Jessica Shetler, and Browning Avenue Jazz. Hosting this year’s event were Cleveland’s Star 102’s Desiray Cross, Jen Toohey, and Tim Richards.
“Once again, tonight’s true winners were all the children and adults with developmental disabilities who receive services from Our Lady of the Wayside”, said CEO Terry Davis. Proceeds benefit Our Lady of the Wayside which provides residential, transportation and Pathways Day Program services for over 900 children and adults with developmental disabilities. 850 Employees strong, the agency manages nearly 90 homes in 40 plus communities throughout Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, Summit and Trumbull counties.
