A “Dream Team” of area chefs helped raise more than $50,000 for the 23rd anniversary of Cleveland’s Finest Hors D’Oeuvre Contest, presented by The Zito Insurance Agency, all to benefit Our Lady of the Wayside.

The sold out event, which attracted close to 800 guests, was hosted by Cleveland’s Star 102’s Tim Richards, Jen Toohey and Desiray Cross. This year’s entertainment included singer-songwriters, Nate Jones and Jessica Shelter, as well as the Cleveland Firelands Collective.

 Northeast Ohioans were invited to sample and vote for their favorite hors d’oeuvre from some of the areas best restaurants including: The Aurora Inn (Chef Paul Mendolera), Carrie Cerino’s Ristorante & Party Center (Chef Jim Bartko), The Clifton & Tree House Gallery Restaurants (Chef Genevieve Larson), Corleone’s Ristorante & Bar (Chef Marlon Mayorga), Driftwood Catering (Chef Jason Reed), The Garden Grille & Bar (Chef Joseph Novak), Merchant Street Provisions & Eatery (Chef Warren Dolata), Momocho (Chef Chris Monjot), Pickwick & Frolic (Chef Michael Thompson), Progressive Field/Delaware North Companies (Chef Josh Ingraham), Tartine Bistro (Chef Michael Grieve), A Taste of Excellence (Chef Adam Quick), Vita Urbana (Chef Scott Popovic), The Woods Restaurant (Chef John Juratovac), Zack Bruell Restaurant Group (Chef Zachary Bruell).

First place Winner: Corleone’s Ristorante and Bar    Chef Marlon Mayorga took top honors with his citrus seasoned scallop mango puree and pomegranate pearls on a scallop shell.

 Second Place Winner: Tree House Gallery-Clifton    Chef Genevieve Larson presented beef rotello served with a lobster sauce.

 Third Place Winner: Carrie Cerino’s Ristorante and Party Center   Chef Jim Bartko showcased his spicy Caribbean shrimp with calypso rice.

“Once again, tonight’s true winners were the 800 children and adults with developmental disabilities who receive services from Our Lady of the Wayside”, said CEO Terry Davis. Proceeds will benefit Wayside’s new Pathways Day Program in Summit County. Wayside, celebrating its 50th Anniversary, provides residential, transportation and adult day programming services throughout 7 Northeast Ohio counties. Nearly 800 employees strong, the agency manages 75 homes and has a transportation fleet of 140 vehicles.

The $80 ticket price included two floors of fine wine and beer selections from courtesy of Rooster Fish Brewing, Rhinegeist, Clara C, Sobon Wine Company and Moletto Dolce Amore; dessert provided by Cupcake Cravings; as well as a Silent Auction and 50/50 Raffle.
