Therapeutic Riding Center

Our Lady of the Wayside offers a variety of exceptional programs for our residents to enhance their individual potential and encourage growth. One of these distinctive programs is equine therapy. Through Fieldstone Farm Therapeutic Riding Center in Chagrin Falls, Ohio our clients have the opportunity to participate in this unique therapy. Therapeutic Riding and Equine-assisted activities are specially designed for those with disabilities. Individuals are able to learn how to ride and care for horses with the help of staff and volunteers. Students can forget about their disabilities and concentrate on learning wonderful new skills. Equine therapy increases self-esteem, coordination and balance and teaches patience and teamwork. Each student’s skills are assessed and evaluated on a continuing basis which enables the instructor to tailor lessons to fit each client’s needs and a variety of programs are offered to give each student the best possible instruction. The horses that the students use at Fieldstone Farm are selected and screened for their gentle disposition and put through a through training program before they participate in the equine therapy program.

While this extraordinary program gives Our Lady of the Wayside residents a chance to break free and experience a wonderful therapy opportunity it is not reimbursed by government assistance and is funded through generous donations.
