Greater Clevelanders raised their glasses and danced away Friday night at Progressive Field, all to benefit Our Lady of the Wayside (, a local non-profit agency that provides residential, transportation and day programming for over 800 children and adults with developmental disabilities in seven Northeast Ohio counties.

The record 2,000 people who attended Grapes & Ale, Presented by Giant Eagle on May 19, 2017 kicked-off Cleveland’s BBQ season in style with samplings of more than 300 internationally acclaimed wines, craft brews, and tastes from some of the sauciest restaurants in town, along with the music of The Ace Molar Band, featuring Todd Meany of Fox 8 WJW TV.

Terry Davis, President & CEO of The Wayside, said the organization always looks forward to this event because it’s so much fun and it certainly helps their bottom line.

“Wayside loves a good party and it was a fantastic night! We were absolutely overwhelmed with Northeast Ohio’s generosity in raising over $100,000 to support our continued efforts to provide the highest quality services and care for the over 800 individuals we are honored to serve,” said Davis.

Hosting this year’s event: Advance Ohio’s ( Marc Bona, FOX 8’s Todd Meany and Kenny Crumpton, Q104's Jeramiah, and WMJI's Chip Kullik.

For $125.00, guests had access to the VIP area on the top floor of “The Corner” to enjoy featured wine selections from Chloe, Columbia Winery and Mercer Estates; craft beer from Blue Moon, Breckenridge Brewery, Cavalier Distributing, Great Lakes Brewing Company, Goose Island, Leinenkugel’s, Shock Top, and Terrapin Beer Company; as well as a selection of Pepsi products. Catering from the Garden Hilton and all the amenities of the Premiere Grand Tasting. 

The $50.00 Premiere Grand Tasting admission included a souvenir wine glass, 300 international acclaimed wine samplings, craft beer samplings ($5 for 10 or $10 for 20 samples), and Chinese raffle and silent auction. Musical entertainment by Ace Molar, featuring FOX 8’s Todd Meany; and Dan Fernandez and Friends! And of course, some of Cleveland’s hottest restaurants including: The 100th Bomb Group, Aurora Inn, Berea Union Depot Taverne, Corleone’s, Hilton Garden Inn Cleveland, Smokin’ Rock n Roll, Strip, Tartine Bistro, as well as delicious desserts from Cupcake Cravings and Pierre’s Ice Cream.

All proceeds will benefit Our Lady of the Wayside’s programs and service for more than 800 individuals with developmental disabilities in 30 communities in Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Summit, Trumbull and Medina Counties.
