Thank You For Joining Us At The
6th Annual Run 4 The Wayside
There were lot of smiles on Sunday morning at ‘Run 4 The Wayside’! Great to see so many Wayside individuals and staff, along with friends, family, and members of the community come out to join us. Thank you for your support of the individuals with developmental disabilities we serve. We are also very grateful to all of the wonderful sponsors for their involvement and participation to make this another successful event for The Wayside.
Four years ago, Scott told a Wayside staff that he wished he could take karate lessons. They went to at least a dozen dojos before finding just the right fit for him. Scott has now been attending Scorpions Karate for the past 3 years, and receives private lessons every week. He recently earned his brown belt by breaking a medium sized board using a downward back fist attack. Congratulations, Scott! He is currently training to compete in a competition coming up in October. Scott’s family and Wayside friends will be in attendance to cheer him on! It's great to see Scott achieve this goal and have this amazing opportunity.
A Message From Wayside President & CEO, Terry Davis...
Our Lady of the Wayside is thrilled to announce that it has moved its administrative offices to our former Guadalupe Facility. Months of renovations have been readying the space to for the 50 employees staffing our Finance, Human Resources, I.T., Facilities and Development teams, as well as my office. This move is something we’ve worked toward for almost 10 years and during that time, the imagined administrative facility has enjoyed any number of working titles – chief among which has been Wayside World Headquarters.
It really does have a nice ring.
That said, moving has a way of compelling you to define what’s essential and leave the rest. This process has confirmed for us that the essence of Wayside is the agency’s wonderfully enduring concept of “home.” Our Lady of the Wayside began quite simply – and profoundly - as one home that supported one person with special needs. More than 50 years later, that one home is now 90 homes, with 4 Pathways Day Program sites, and a 160+ vehicle transportation fleet that all join together to support 900 children and adults with developmental disabilities.
Wayside has come a long way.
Much thanks to everyone who has worked to make Our Lady of the Wayside, Home to Opportunity!
