Cleveland Sports Legends Game
Saturday night was the Cleveland Sports Legends Game! It was wonderful to see people from the community come out and watch their favorite legends play in a softball game. A big thank you to Lake Erie Crushers for allowing us to be a partner of this event along with our friends at Ray's Auto & Truck Service. We'd also like to thank the volunteers from Kohl's Avon for helping us with the Chinese Auction table. Cole and Nadine, who live in Wayside homes, each had the opportunity to throw out a first pitch prior to the game. They did an awesome job! The entire evening was a great time for both the individuals we serve and our staff. Lots of smiles and memories made!
Agency Spotlight | Meet Christy
Christy lives in one of Wayside's residential homes. It has been her dream to learn to ride a horse and she has lots of pictures of horses in her room. Just over two months ago, she started taking riding lessons after saving up her money. Our staff helped connect her with Boots to Grasses Therapeutic Horsemanship Program, a program that works with individuals who have special needs. The photos to the right are from Christy's very first time riding. She did great - way to go, Christy! It's amazing to see the joy on her face! She even told staff, "My dream finally came true!".
As an agency, we are proud to provide wonderful opportunities to all of the individuals we serve and are grateful to have awesome staff on our team who model Wayside's mission everyday.
Celebrating 50 Years of Opportunities
For 50 years, Our Lady of the Wayside has been honored. Honored by the opportunity to roll up our sleeves along side family members, volunteers and Board members to do the next right thing for children and adults with developmental disabilities. Honored by the opportunity to work with public corporations, private companies, individual donors and governmental agencies to change the lives of the most vulnerable for the better. Best of all, Wayside has been honored to have the opportunity to earn the trust, friendship and love that comes with caring for someone special.
2017 Marks our 50th year of serving individuals with developmental disabilities. Golden Anniversaries are typically a time to pause and reflect, but that's really not the Wayside way...Continued on our blog.
