FILL THE HOUSE FOR CHARITY WITH THE CLEVELAND INDIANS RAISES OVER $16,000 FOR THE WAYSIDE!
The Cleveland Indians community outreach initiative, “Fill the House for Charity,” is a partnership between the Indians organization and 12 non-profit service agencies. Each non-profit has a designated Tuesday home game to celebrate and promote their mission. The Indians donated $5 of each ticket sold by The Wayside back to The Wayside and $1 for every overall ticket sold for the game was donated to Our Lady of the Wayside. Fill the House for Charity’s efforts raised $16, 215 for The Wayside’s programs and services for individuals with disabilities! It’s a winning combination!
CONGRATULATIONS TO WAYSIDE PRESIDENT & CEO TERRY DAVIS…
We are happy to announce that Terry Davis, President & CEO of Our Lady of the Wayside won Crains Healthcare Heros Administrator of the Year Award for a Charitable Organization given by Crains Cleveland Business Magazine. An award luncheon will be held on May 23rd at Executive Caterers at Landerhaven. CLEVELAND’S FINEST HORS D’OEUVRE CONTEST…
A Bakers Dozen of Northeast Ohio’s most prominent chefs raised more than $35,000.00 at Cleveland’s Finest Hors d’Oeuvre Contest, to benefit Our Lady of the Wayside. The event, hosted by Jen Toohey & Desiray McCray of Cleveland’s New 102., was held Thursday evening, April 12th, at the Terrace Club at Progressive Field in Cleveland where a true “Dream Team” of Cleveland’s top chefs and restaurants showcased their most popular hors d’oeuvres.
350 guests voted for their favorite and there was a split decision for first place between Chef Zack Bruell (Parallax, Table 45, L’Albatros, Cowell and Hubbard and, Chinato) for his delicious Confit of chicken with Blue cheese, Polenta and Kale and Chef Marlon Mayorga of Corleone’s for his Pan Seared Scallop with Corn Relish and chilled tomato Au Jus. Second Place went to Chef Eric Kinder (The Clifton in Avon) for his Gnocchi with Moroccan BBQ and Duck Confit, and Third Place was awarded to Chef Mike Lipnos (Carrie Cerino’s Ristorante) for his Surf N’ Turf Michelino.

The evening was a tremendous success and a great kickoff to a summer filled with great events to benefit The Wayside - “Fill the House” at Progressive Field on Tuesday, May 8th as the Indians take on the Chicago White Sox, “Grapes and Ale” at Progressive Field on Friday, July 13th and the Amateur Golf Championship at Lake Forest Country Club on Monday, August 13th.
ZITO HOME OPENING…
We are proud to announce the addition of a second respite home to the Our Lady of the Wayside Family of Services. Named in honor of one of The Wayside’s champions, The Zito Family, this home has been established through a partnership with Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities and opened its doors in March. The Zito Family Home will provide short-term emergency resident placement for children and adults with developmental disabilities who experience temporary difficulties, and will serve as an option for families or care-givers who are called out of town or simply need a break. A Grand Opening Celebration is being planned for the end of May.
